LOGPlus!
Updates & Changes to version 2
==============================
LOGPlus! is copyrighted(c) 1988-1994 by Robert A. Winters/KD7P
and DMW Systems.
Important information concerning the Russian Oblast Award
=========================================================
The Russian Oblast award system provided with LOGPlus! is not
current and does not reflect recent changes. Major changes to the
Oblast system have occurred in Russia over the past year which
makes the current system obsolete. I am currently writing a
complete new system which will be released with version 3 early next
year. Data entered in this version will mostly likely not be
supported in future upgrades.
Here are some very important facts about the new system. This
information extracted from Alex N. Ulyanich, RB5IJ Soviet Ham
Press Digest dated November 1991. (Sorry, I just received a copy
courtesy of N6CFQ).
1. 5 new Russian Oblast Awards will be offered. They are
a. WARO - Worked All Russian Oblasts. Endorsements are
being offered for CW, SSB, MIXED and 160 Meters.
b. 5BWARO - 5 Band Worked All Russian Oblasts. Only
contacts on 10,15,20,40 and 80m will count.
c. WHMS - Worked High-Mountain Station. No info.
d. HMAC - Highest Mountains - All Continents. I also
understand a 5BHMAC award will be offered.
e. HMDXCA - High-Mountain DX Club Award. No info.
2. Only contacts made AFTER January 1, 1992 will count for
any of the above awards.
If you wish additional information about these awards you could
write Oleg Zhukov, P.O. Box 410, Kaliningrad-10, 141070 Moscow obl.,
USSR.
Updating from previous version
==============================
Three files have been added to update your DXCC files. If you
wish to use them, make sure you back up the files your deleting
just in case something goes wrong.

Make sure you re-index after making the changes. See information
below about changes.

v2.4 to v2.5 Changes
====================
1. During a recent visit to the Stanwood/Camano Island Amateur
Radio Club, N7MZS suggested a method inwhich DXCC pending QSLs
could be tracked separately from your standard run of the mill
QSL cards. A new system has been added to the Pending - Browse/Modify
which will not allow you to view and print mode depended QSLs
for pending DXCC countries only. Function keys F5 thru F9 have
been programmed under the browse feature. In addition, a new
print menu selection option has been added. TNX N7MZS

v2.3 to v2.4 Changes
====================
1. Logbook NOTES (ALT_N) were not being saved when F10 was
pressed. Fixed. (Note: This DOES not effect users of v2.2 or
earlier).
2. SHARE can now be used in the CONFIG.SYS file. A new LOGON.COM
file has been developed and should be left in the \PLUSV2 directory.
This file contains a small program in addition to the LOGON screen
to provide access to SHARE. However, once the screen has been
displayed, you can press the "SPACE BAR" to execute LOGPlus! faster.

v2.2 to v2.3 Changes
====================
1. Under QSL Browse/Modify (Direct/Bureau/Other), added
QMGR under editor.
2. Dumb Terminal Program and Logging with PacketCluster
have been modified. A new SCROLL feature has been added
which will retain 6000 characters.
ALT_U = Display scroll window. Incoming buffer will hold up
to 6000 characters. This is equavelent to nearly 125
lines of text. When the 6000 character limit is reached,
the first in first out (FIFO) system comes into play and
will truncate old information.
ALT_Y = Delete ALL data in incoming buffer.
NOTE: Incoming packets will NOT be displayed while the scroll
window is activiated.
3. A COMMENT field has been added to the IOTA database. Users
prior to v2.3 will need to update your IOTA database please
type:
LOG { your call } IOTAUPDATE
v2.1 to v2.2 Changes
====================
1. Documentation updated 09/06/93 to reflect changes up to
this point.
2. The changes made to this version are major in terms of
Kenwood radio control.
Kenwood radio control is now available in the Real-time
and Off-air logging modules. No longer are you required
to input a frequency or mode, the program will do it all!
Icom and Yaesu support will be coming shortly.
If an effort to provide these features, some features in
the Real-Time and Off-Air modules had to be shifted to
other function keys sets to provide continuity between the
Dumb Terminal Program and the logging modules. The
documentation has been updated to reflect these changes.
I list them here just incase you don't wish to print out
the sections which are affected.
The following function keys have been programmed to control
the radio:
Key New Function
===========================================================
ALT-B Jump Back from DX Spot
ALT-J Jump to DX Spot
ALT-K Turn On/Off Kenwood Interface
CTRL-F2 Change Frequency
CTRL-F3 Change Mode
CTRL-F4 Change VFO
CTRL-F5 Change Frequency UP by 10HZ
CTRL-F6 Change Frequency DN by 10HZ
a. ALT-B >> Jump back to frequency and mode prior to jump
to PacketCluster spot.
b. ALT-J >> Jump to current PacketCluster spot. This will
grab the current spot (one displayed on top portion of screen)
and automatically QSY the radio's VFO "A" to it. Note the mode
will NOT changed. IMPORTANT: Only press this key ONCE! If
you press it more than once, the ALT-B will NOT work!
The next major release of LOGPlus! will make every effort to
determine the mode and QSY the radio accordingly.
( This function key set is also used in the Dumb Terminal
Program to jump to the current spot ).
c. ALT-K >> Turn On/Off Kenwood interface. Frequency and
mode fields will be automatically updated whenever a change
is made to the VFO. You will notice the phrase " ( Radio ON! ) "
flashing green in the upper left corner of the screen when
this feature is activated.
d. CTRL-F2 >> Change radio frequency. Format same as used in
Dumb Terminal Program.
e. CTRL-F3 >> Change radio mode. Format same as used in Dumb
Terminal Program.
f. CTRL-F4 >> Change VFOs. Toggle switch.
g. CTRL-F5 >> Change radio frequency by 10HZ UP.
h. CTRL-F6 >> Change radio frequency by 10HZ DN.
NOTE: f. g. and h. above will NOT be seen in the logging modules
due to space restrictions. However, you'll obviously notice the
changes as they occur.
In addition to these changes, I've modified the Options (ALT-O)
under the Dumb Terminal Program to allow you to specify the radio
you're using. Your radio is no longer queried to determine it's
type.
The following function keys have been reprogrammed in the
Real-Time and Off-Air modules:
Function New Old

v2.09b to v2.09c Changes
========================
1. Island field added to IOTA databases to conform with
changes to the way IOTA information is submitted for awards.
Changes made to manual updating as well as printing.
VERY IMPORTANT to v2.09b and earlier: If you're an IOTA
users, you MUST update your IOTA databases to add the new
ISLAND FIELD. Updating is extremely simple. Before you
being however, make a copy of your IOTA.DBF file and save
it to a \TEMP directory. At the dos prompt type
LOG {your call} IOTAUPDATE
You only need to do this ONCE! After you've entered the
program reindex your IOTA databases files.
2. The Event Calendar will only display in M/D/Y format.
(August 18, 1993) regardless of the program format selected.
3. The Dumb Terminal Program logging feature ALT-L has been
modified. Defaults have been established for Frequency,
Mode, Sent, Rcvd, Date, and Time.
Date: System date Time: System time
Frequency: 14.086 Mode: RTY Sent/Rcvd: 599
If any of these defaults are modified, the modified information
will be maintained as long as LOGPlus! remains loaded.
Example: If you're operating PKT mode and modify the Mode to
read PKT, PKT will remain as the logged mode until you exit LOGPlus!. TNX NX7K
v2.09 to v2.09b Changes
=======================
1. YU4 Bosnia-Hercegovina has been changed to T9.
2. YU5 Macedonia has been changed to Z3.
3. ZS/P Penguin Island has been changed to ZS0.
4. 7O Yemen has been changed to 4W.
5. E3 Eritrea has been added. No effective date entered.
Uncertainty over the new USSR prefixes is causing major problems.
It's difficult to modify a prefix group only to find out that only
a few stations "JUMPED THE GUN" and started using the group before
it's official release. This places LOGPlus! a bit behind the EIGHT
BALL. To conform with changes I have modified the DXCC.DBF,
PRFX.DBF and PREFIXES.DBF files to incorporate the new changes
effective 03/01/93. According to reliable sources, 03/01/93 is
pretty close to the a BALL PARK date we can come up with!
IMPORTANT: If you don't feel comfortable with the new RUSSIAN
prefixes and wish to use the old system, you can replace your
DXCC.DBF with OLDDXCC.DBF and PRFX.DBF with OLDPRFX.DBF. Please
copy DXCC.DBF and PRFX.DBF to disk or a temp directory then rename
the OLD files.
Country Old New Valid Prefixes
===============================================
Armenia UG EK EK
Azerbaijan UD 4J 4J
Belarus UC EU EU, EV, EW
Georgia UF 4L 4L
Kazakh UL UN UN, UO, UP, UQ
Moldavia UO ER ER
Kyrgyz UM EX EX
Russia UA UA ALL R, UA to UI, 4K
Tadzhik UJ EY EY
Turkmen UH EZ EZ
Ukraine UB UR UR to UZ, EM, EO
Uzbek UI UJ UJ to UM
An official prefix for Malyj Vysotskij Island (4J) has not been
reported. We will have to ASSUME (terrible word) that it will
remain (4J1).
In addition, with all the changes the OBLAST tracking system is
in question. According to a few Russians I've talked with, the
OBLAST award system is no longer being supported by Box 88,
Moscow. If this is the case, (additional checking is being
done) the OBLAST award system will be deleted from the program.
v2.08 to v2.09 Changes
======================
1. Hot QSLing in logging module will now save entry before
printing. Works on currently displayed QSO only.
2. Screen blanking feature added to Dumb Terminal Program
ALT-F10.
v2.07 to v2.08 Changes
======================
1. ALT-R added to logging module. With IOTA becoming very
popular, we need a method inwhich to REVERSE the callsign around.
Example: VR6BX/HI operates from Henderson Island. When the call
is entered the program will automatically convert the call to
HI/VR6BX and assign the country Dominican Rep. To REVERSE the
call, press ALT-R, the call field will display VR6BX/HI and
Pitcairn Island will be displayed along with previous QSOs and
DXCC information.
2. Canadian provinces have been updated. VY2 will now display
Prince Edward Island, VY1 will display Yukon Territory etc..
3. Print problem in IOTA module.
4. County Hunter Statistics - Confirmed "C" column added to display.
In addition, I've changed the color to a blue background.
5. New IOTANF.DBF file added. This file will allow you to print out
those reference numbers the program could not located.
