  9.    Important information concerning the Russian Oblast Award
  10.    =========================================================
  11.    The Russian Oblast award system provided with LOGPlus! is not
  12.    current and does not reflect recent changes.  Major changes to the
  13.    Oblast system have occurred in Russia over the past year which 
  14.    makes the current system obsolete.  I am currently writing a 
  15.    complete new system which will be released with version 3 early next
  16.    year. Data entered in this version will mostly likely not be
  17.    supported in future upgrades.

  19.    Here are some very important facts about the new system.  This
  20.    information extracted from Alex N. Ulyanich, RB5IJ Soviet Ham
  21.    Press Digest dated November 1991. (Sorry, I just received a copy
  22.    courtesy of N6CFQ).

  24.       1. 5 new Russian Oblast Awards will be offered.  They are
  25.          a.  WARO - Worked All Russian Oblasts.  Endorsements are
  26.              being offered for CW, SSB, MIXED and 160 Meters.
  27.          b.  5BWARO - 5 Band Worked All Russian Oblasts.  Only
  28.              contacts on 10,15,20,40 and 80m will count.
  29.          c.  WHMS - Worked High-Mountain Station. No info.
  30.          d.  HMAC - Highest Mountains - All Continents. I also
  31.              understand a 5BHMAC award will be offered.
  32.          e.  HMDXCA - High-Mountain DX Club Award. No info.
  33.  
  34.       2.  Only contacts made AFTER January 1, 1992 will count for
  35.       any of the above awards.

  42.    Updating from previous version
  43.    ==============================
  44.    Three files have been added to update your DXCC files.  If you
  45.    wish to use them, make sure you back up the files your deleting
  46.    just in case something goes wrong.

  59.    v2.4 to v2.5 Changes

  61.    1.  During a recent visit to the Stanwood/Camano Island Amateur
  62.    Radio Club, N7MZS suggested a method inwhich DXCC pending QSLs
  63.    could be tracked separately from your standard run of the mill
  64.    QSL cards.  A new system has been added to the Pending - Browse/Modify
  65.    which will not allow you to view and print mode depended QSLs
  66.    for pending DXCC countries only.  Function keys F5 thru F9 have
  67.    been programmed under the browse feature.  In addition, a new
  68.    print menu selection option has been added.          TNX N7MZS

  72.    v2.3 to v2.4 Changes

  75.    1.  Logbook NOTES (ALT_N) were not being saved when F10 was
  76.    pressed.  Fixed.  (Note: This DOES not effect users of v2.2 or
  77.    earlier).

  79.    2.  SHARE can now be used in the CONFIG.SYS file.  A new LOGON.COM
  80.    file has been developed and should be left in the \PLUSV2 directory.
  81.    This file contains a small program in addition to the LOGON screen
  82.    to provide access to SHARE.  However, once the screen has been
  83.    displayed, you can press the "SPACE BAR" to execute LOGPlus! faster.

  87.    v2.2 to v2.3 Changes
  88.    ====================

  90.    1.  Under QSL Browse/Modify (Direct/Bureau/Other), added
  91.    QMGR under editor.
  92.  
  93.    2.  Dumb Terminal Program and Logging with PacketCluster
  94.    have been modified.  A new SCROLL feature has been added
  95.    which will retain 6000 characters.
  96.  
  97.    ALT_U = Display scroll window.  Incoming buffer will hold up 
  98.            to 6000 characters.  This is equavelent to nearly 125 
  99.            lines of text.  When the 6000 character limit is reached, 
  100.            the first in first out (FIFO) system comes into play and 
  101.            will truncate old information.

  103.    ALT_Y = Delete ALL data in incoming buffer.
  104.  
  105.    NOTE:  Incoming packets will NOT be displayed while the scroll
  106.           window is activiated.

  108.    3.  A COMMENT field has been added to the IOTA database. Users
  109.    prior to v2.3 will need to update your IOTA database please
  110.    type:

  115.    v2.1 to v2.2 Changes
  116.    ====================
  117.  
  118.    1. Documentation updated 09/06/93 to reflect changes up to
  119.    this point.
  120.  
  121.    2. The changes made to this version are major in terms of
  122.    Kenwood radio control.
  123.  
  124.    Kenwood radio control is now available in the Real-time
  125.    and Off-air logging modules.  No longer are you required
  126.    to input a frequency or mode, the program will do it all!
  127.    Icom and Yaesu support will be coming shortly.
  128.  
  129.    If an effort to provide these features, some features in
  130.    the Real-Time and Off-Air modules had to be shifted to
  131.    other function keys sets to provide continuity between the
  132.    Dumb Terminal Program and the logging modules.  The
  133.    documentation has been updated to reflect these changes.
  134.    I list them here just incase you don't wish to print out
  135.    the sections which are affected.

  137.    The following function keys have been programmed to control

  155.       b.  ALT-J >> Jump to current PacketCluster spot.  This will
  156.       grab the current spot (one displayed on top portion of screen)
  157.       and automatically QSY the radio's VFO "A" to it.  Note the mode
  158.       will NOT changed.  IMPORTANT:  Only press this key ONCE!  If
  159.       you press it more than once, the ALT-B will NOT work!

  161.       The next major release of LOGPlus! will make every effort to 
  162.       determine the mode and QSY the radio accordingly.

  164.       ( This function key set is also used in the Dumb Terminal
  165.         Program to jump to the current spot ).

  167.       c.  ALT-K >> Turn On/Off Kenwood interface.  Frequency and
  168.       mode fields will be automatically updated whenever a change
  169.       is made to the VFO.  You will notice the phrase " ( Radio ON! ) "
  170.       flashing green in the upper left corner of the screen when
  171.       this feature is activated.

  173.       d. CTRL-F2 >> Change radio frequency.  Format same as used in
  174.       Dumb Terminal Program.

  176.       e. CTRL-F3  >> Change radio mode.  Format same as used in Dumb
  177.       Terminal Program.

  179.       f. CTRL-F4  >> Change VFOs.  Toggle switch.
  180.  
  181.       g. CTRL-F5  >> Change radio frequency by 10HZ UP.

  183.       h. CTRL-F6  >> Change radio frequency by 10HZ DN.

  185.    NOTE:  f. g. and h. above will NOT be seen in the logging modules
  186.    due to space restrictions.  However, you'll obviously notice the
  187.    changes as they occur.

  189.    In addition to these changes, I've modified the Options (ALT-O) 
  190.    under the Dumb Terminal Program to allow you to specify the radio
  191.    you're using.  Your radio is no longer queried to determine it's
  192.    type.

  208.    1. Island field added to IOTA databases to conform with
  209.    changes to the way IOTA information is submitted for awards.
  210.    Changes made to manual updating as well as printing.
  211.  
  212.    VERY IMPORTANT to v2.09b and earlier:  If you're an IOTA
  213.    users, you MUST update your IOTA databases to add the new
  214.    ISLAND FIELD. Updating is extremely simple.  Before you
  215.    being however, make a copy of your IOTA.DBF file and save
  216.    it to a \TEMP directory. At the dos prompt type
  217.  
  218.       LOG {your call} IOTAUPDATE
  219.  
  220.    You only need to do this ONCE!  After you've entered the
  221.    program reindex your IOTA databases files.
  222.  
  223.    2. The Event Calendar will only display in M/D/Y format.
  224.    (August 18, 1993) regardless of the program format selected.
  225.  
  226.    3. The Dumb Terminal Program logging feature ALT-L has been
  227.    modified.  Defaults have been established for Frequency,
  228.    Mode, Sent, Rcvd, Date, and Time.

  233.    If any of these defaults are modified, the modified information 
  234.    will be maintained as long as LOGPlus! remains loaded.  
  235.    Example:  If you're operating PKT mode and modify the Mode to

  238.    v2.09 to v2.09b Changes
  239.    =======================
  240.  
  241.    1.  YU4   Bosnia-Hercegovina has been changed to T9.
  242.    2.  YU5   Macedonia has been changed to Z3.
  243.    3.  ZS/P  Penguin Island has been changed to ZS0.
  244.    4.  7O    Yemen has been changed to 4W.
  245.    5.  E3    Eritrea has been added.  No effective date entered.

  247.    Uncertainty over the new USSR prefixes is causing major problems.
  248.    It's difficult to modify a prefix group only to find out that only
  249.    a few stations "JUMPED THE GUN" and started using the group before
  250.    it's official release. This places LOGPlus! a bit behind the EIGHT
  251.    BALL.  To conform with changes I have modified the DXCC.DBF, 
  252.    PRFX.DBF and PREFIXES.DBF files to incorporate the new changes 
  253.    effective 03/01/93.  According to reliable sources, 03/01/93 is 
  254.    pretty close to the a BALL PARK date we can come up with!
  255.  
  256.    IMPORTANT:  If you don't feel comfortable with the new RUSSIAN
  257.    prefixes and wish to use the old system, you can replace your
  258.    DXCC.DBF with OLDDXCC.DBF and PRFX.DBF with OLDPRFX.DBF.  Please 
  259.    copy DXCC.DBF and PRFX.DBF to disk or a temp directory then rename 
  260.    the OLD files.

  277.    An official prefix for Malyj Vysotskij Island (4J) has not been 
  278.    reported. We will have to ASSUME (terrible word) that it will

  281.    In addition, with all the changes the OBLAST tracking system is 
  282.    in question.  According to a few Russians I've talked with, the 
  283.    OBLAST award system is no longer being supported by Box 88, 
  284.    Moscow.  If this is the case, (additional checking is being 
  285.    done) the OBLAST award system will be deleted from the program.

  288.    v2.08 to v2.09 Changes
  289.    ======================
  290.  
  291.    1.  Hot QSLing in logging module will now save entry before 
  292.    printing. Works on currently displayed QSO only.
  293.  
  294.    2.  Screen blanking feature added to Dumb Terminal Program 
  295.    ALT-F10.

  298.    v2.07 to v2.08 Changes
  299.    ======================
  300.  
  301.    1. ALT-R added to logging module.  With IOTA becoming very 
  302.    popular, we need a method inwhich to REVERSE the callsign around.  
  303.    Example: VR6BX/HI operates from Henderson Island.  When the call 
  304.    is entered the program will automatically convert the call to 
  305.    HI/VR6BX and assign the country Dominican Rep. To REVERSE the 
  306.    call, press ALT-R, the call field will display VR6BX/HI and 
  307.    Pitcairn Island will be displayed along with previous QSOs and 
  308.    DXCC information.
  309.  
  310.    2. Canadian provinces have been updated.  VY2 will now display
  311.    Prince Edward Island, VY1 will display Yukon Territory etc..

  313.    3. Print problem in IOTA module.
  314.  
  315.    4. County Hunter Statistics - Confirmed "C" column added to display.
  316.    In addition, I've changed the color to a blue background.
  317.  
  318.    5. New IOTANF.DBF file added.  This file will allow you to print out
  319.    those reference numbers the program could not located.
